Thirty years ago the first Pokémon cards reached store shelves in Japan. The 30th Celebration set marks that milestone by breaking precedent in ways no Pokémon expansion ever has: every single card in the set is foil, a brand-new opalescent rarity debuts on Pikachu, Mewtwo and Mew, classics return from across three decades — and for the first time in the game’s history, English and Japanese players open it on the same day.

Packs hold 6 cards, and every card in the set is foil — commons and uncommons included. In thirty years no standard Pokémon expansion has done this. It changes what an ordinary pack opening even looks like, because there are no filler cards to flip past.

Classics Spanning Three Decades
Following the Celebrations model, the set carries a Classics Collection of reprints. Confirmed so far:
- Pikachu & Zekrom GX — from Team Up (2019), one of the most celebrated TAG Team GX cards
- Solgaleo GX — from Sun & Moon Base Set (2017), the first Legendary GX
- Lugia — from Aquapolis (2003), returning after more than twenty years
- More to be revealed — the full Classics list is still being announced
